Based on 296 reviewsMountain House - Times Square 川山甲 is widely praised for its authentic Sichuan cuisine, offering flavorful, fragrant, and well-balanced dishes that appeal to both spicy food enthusiasts and those preferring milder options. Guests consistently highlight the attentive and friendly service, often noting individual staff members for their exceptional hospitality and personalized recommendations. The restaurant’s inviting atmosphere and kid-friendly approach also receive positive mentions. While drinks are generally well-regarded for quality and value, there are occasional comments about longer wait times. A minor critique involves certain dessert preparations, yet this does little to overshadow the overall dining experience. Mountain House stands out as a reliable destination for high-quality Sichuan food in Midtown Manhattan.
A surprisingly sublime experience in the heart of midtown. Pleasantly surprised by how attentive the service was throughout the entire meal from the entire restaurant team. Special shout outs to Steven and our runner/busser who were both fantastic. The drinks took an oddly long time, 30-45 minutes, but were delicious and well priced. The food was incredible - hot, fragrant, and very mala. This location is perfect for pre-/post-theater outings or for anyone who uses Port Authority as their main method of transportation. Steven also makes the jasmine tea pudding, which was one of the best (and one of the only non-spicy) parts of the meal. Delightfully subtle, not too sweet or overly rich, and with a beautiful aroma, it was the perfect end to a (very) spicy meal. Spice level is customizable so don't let that deter you!
Very good Chinese restaurant . Authentic Sichuan cuisine! The service also very nice, kids friendly. Special thanks to Steven, he is kind and nice to kids. The food can be modified to low or none spicy. We enjoyed the lunch very much!
Had such a great meal here! Every dish was super flavorful. The spice level was just right and everything came out hot and fresh. Highly recommend the stir-fried chicken and the spicy broth dishes, so comforting and satisfying. Special shoutout to Steven for being so attentive and friendly! He made great recommendations and really added to the overall experience. Will definitely come back again!
Maggie at the front desk was incredibly warm and welcoming—even brought us refreshing lemon iced tea while we waited in the heat, which was such a thoughtful touch. Evan and Steven our servers were attentive and made sure everything ran smoothly. Zhijie, the bartender, crafted an excellent Alpine Mist—balanced and refreshing. The stone pot fish was bursting with flavor. The interior is comfortable with a unique style that adds to the overall experience. Fantastic service, great food—highly recommended!
Always a great experience and wonderful food. Go to spot for Sichuan food in NYC. The only issue is the bing fen dessert doesn’t contain crushed ice. Really strange. But otherwise all the dishes here are great.
Being regular customer for mountain house since 2022! Love the environment, love the food! The new location in 46th street is amazing as usual. Shout out to Steven and Maggie the best server we could ever have. All of the taste was amazing. Got the chance to try there new jasmine tea pudding was incredible perfect. Definitely recommend peach rice wine. The house signature cocktail!
We were too busy enjoying the food to take photos of everything. The taste was just as good as their East Village location, and both the prices and portions were very reasonable. Since the wait was a bit long, they gave us two complimentary cocktails. Definitely worth recommending!
As someone who’s quite particular with Chinese food, I’d say not every dish is perfect but overall this is the best Sichuan cuisine in NYC. I’d like to give a special shout out to a guy called Steven - he is professional, accommodating and sincerely cared about how we enjoyed the dinner. His excellent service elevated our experience and we (including our 4-year-old who doesn’t eat spicy food) were very happy to visit this place today. I’d recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves spicy Chinese cuisines, and finish the experience with traditional Chinese deserts that were surprisingly good
